April: Martin Street "Celebrating Our Best"

04/30/10

If you did not attend Martin Street "Celebrating our Best" Banquet you missed a wonderful, well planned, professional and heart touching experience! The Georgia Hill Community Center was a excellent venue to host the gala. The banquet had over 130 persons in attendance. The Wall of Fame, with the residents' pictures was simply beautiful! The silver and blue stars hanging from the ceiling and the star studded table center pieces looked simply wonderful. What a great concept.

The Martin Street Management (Divas) pictures were excellent also. Adrianne, a flawless job on the staff and residents portraits.

The residents and guest really enjoyed their dinner, for not only was the meal delicious but the servings were healthy portions. The cater did a delightful job! The Mime Presentation from the youth group was simply charming! Deloris and Charles Westmoreland musical selection "I believe I can fly" was a knockout. To see the audience and guest wave their arms as if they were flying was a sight to see. Deloris motivating words, B. E. S. T. and what each letter stood for was perfect for the occasion. The adults and children could understand each letter and its meaning and can easily apply each concept to their lives.Althea Weston, who says she gets nervous speaking publicly, gave a most personable and charming welcome. I know everyone in the room felt at home after her welcome.(Althea you are a natural public speaker) What a lovely touch for the Martin Street Resident, Naomi Wobbleton, to speak from the heart of a resident. Her words were sincere and welcoming. And for her to recognize the management and maintenance staff was indescribable.

Martin Street Attendants

Ric Jones, what a great ambassador you are for Martin Street Community. To cultivate such exquisite partnerships with Summer Hill Neighborhood Development and Organized Neighbors of Summerhill is so important to the success of Lane/CLC. I know Diann and Tony work closely with you, however Ric you are the face of Lane/CLC to the partners. Saying thank you seems so little to express our gratitude for the significance of all you all have accomplished at Martin Street. But I have to say it again and again THANK YOU, THANK YOU! And to have representatives from each partner present without question, one of the highlights of the evening. Additionally, to have James, Diann, Tony, Marvin Nesbitt (AHA), Wayne Martin (AHA),Sean Atkins (AHA), Wendy Battaglia (ONS), and Douglas Dean (SNDC) make the awards presentation for Honor Roll Students, M-TeamParticipation, Martin Street Honorees was absolutely exquisite. Belinda, Ric, Deloris, Lathan, Adrianne, Tony and Diann I am sure you all were tired after another great event, but thank you again for a beautiful evening. Is this the first big event held at Martin Street? If so, what a kickoff it was!
